President Donald Trump will deliver remarks Monday at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, a White House official told The Washington Sun.
The president’s remarks are likely to serve as a closing message for his monthslong campaign rally blitz ahead of the midterms. In more than two dozen in-person rallies across the country, Trump has stumped for Republicans facing competitive statewide races, including for Senate nominees Ken Paxton in Texas and Mike Rogers in Michigan.
The president has often encouraged crowds at the rallies to vote as if he was on the ballot and has said Democratic victories would pose a threat to the policies he has been able to enact during the first two years of his second term.
During Trump’s second administration, the president has focused on renovating many D.C. landmarks, including the Reflecting Pool.

Trump has maintained that vandals cut the bottom of the pool, which his administration hired contractors to resurface with “American Flag Blue.” Shortly after completion in late June, chunks of the material could be seen partially detached in the water and algae blooms began to turn the pool bright green.
Trump told reporters in Iowa on Sunday he planned to deliver remarks at the Reflecting Pool “to show how beautiful it is.”
The Reflecting Pool has been the site of many historic speeches and events, particularly those associated with the civil rights movement. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial overlooking the Reflecting Pool in 1963, and President Barack Obama marked the 50th anniversary of King’s speech at the pool in 2013.
