Wizards rookie AJ Dybantsa will have to wait a bit longer before making his NBA debut after he was ruled out for Wednesday’s season opener with an ankle injury.
Wizards coach Brian Keefe said during a team practice Tuesday that the No. 1 pick will miss Wednesday’s meeting with the Bucks and remains day-to-day. Dybantsa sprained his left ankle during the second quarter of Friday’s preseason finale against the Pelicans.
After the Pelicans game, Keefe said pulling Dybantsa after his injury was precautionary and added that the team would “take it one day at a time” when asked whether Dybantsa would play against the Bucks.
On Tuesday, Keefe said Dybantsa was the only Wizards player ruled out for the opener.
