After missing the past two games, quarterback Jayden Daniels is expected to return to the lineup this Sunday against the Giants.

“The goal is for [Daniels] to have a full week of practice and start on Sunday,” head coach Dan Quinn said Monday.

Daniels will be joined by several fellow returning injured players: right guard Sam Cosmi, safety Nick Cross and running back Rachaad White.

Receiver Jaylin Lane will miss the rest of the season after fracturing his foot Sunday against the Colts in London. Quarterback Marcus Mariota (knee) and defensive end Charles Omenihu (groin) were also injured on Sunday, but their timeline for returning is still up in the air.

Daniels has missed the past two games after dislocating his left elbow for the second time in 10 months. The third-year quarterback went to London with the team and practiced, but didn’t dress in the loss to the Colts.

Third-string quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis made his NFL debut on Sunday in Washington’s 30-13 loss after Mariota injured his knee, and performed well given the circumstances. Kaliakmanis completed 15 of his 33 passes for 186 yards with a touchdown and interception. Despite his inexperience, Kaliakmanis wasn’t afraid to take shots downfield. He became the only quarterback this season to throw more than six passes of 30 yards-plus. His first career touchdown pass was a perfectly placed 47-yard strike to Treylon Burks.

Quinn said that three players currently on injured reserve — cornerback Trey Amos (ankle), running back Jeremy McNichols (quad) and defensive lineman Deatrich Wise (quad) — will be evaluated this week to see if they’re ready to return to play.
