Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin will miss the rest of the season with a torn patellar tendon, coach Dan Quinn said on Tuesday. The 31-year-old is expected to undergo surgery.
McLaurin was carted off the field in the first quarter of the team’s “Monday Night Football” game against the 49ers. He appeared to get his feet tangled with San Francisco corner Deommodore Lenoir on a third-down route. McLaurin reached for his left leg as he fell to the ground and stayed down for some time as trainers provided an air cast.
After the game, Quinn said the team feared McLaurin’s injury was “significant,” and an MRI later showed that McLaurin needed surgery.
The veteran wideout was in his second game back after sitting out Week 4 with a hamstring injury. He missed seven games last season with a quad strain after not missing a single contest between 2021 and 2024. He will finish his 2026 season with 15 catches for 230 yards and a touchdown.
