National Links Trust signed a new long-term lease on Wednesday to manage and operate two public golf courses in D.C. for the next 50 years, excluding East Potomac Golf Links.

The nonprofit said in a Thursday news release that its new lease with the Interior Department and National Park Service will have it manage, operate and rehabilitate Langston Golf Course and Rock Creek Park Golf.

According to the release, the National Links Trust’s involvement at East Potomac Golf Links will end on or before Nov. 15, when the course will close for a planned massive redevelopment amid an ongoing legal battle.

National Links Trust is preparing to complete major rehabilitation and capital improvement projects at Rock Creek Park Golf and will “deepen their work with community programs” at Langston Golf Course, according to the news release.

The nonprofit previously announced the long-term lease agreement in May, after the Trump administration terminated National Links Trust’s initial 50-year lease for all three golf courses in December. The nonprofit said at the time it would continue to operate the East Potomac golf course on an interim basis, The Washington Post reported.

The National Park Service will submit renovation plans for East Potomac Park to the National Capital Planning Commission in Washington by Friday, the same day Trump administration lawyers are scheduled to explain in court its plans to close the golf course for redevelopment.

The Interior Department did not respond to a request for comment.
