No Going Back PAC, a Trump-aligned super PAC, ran an ad attacking Jonathan Nez, a Native American candidate in a competitive Arizona House district. But it twice showed images of another Native American politician instead.
The 30-second spot erroneously showed photos of Myron Lizer, who held tribal office alongside Nez. Nez is the former president of the Navajo Nation and is now the Democratic nominee for Arizona’s 2nd Congressional District, which is represented by his Republican opponent, Rep. Eli Crane.
The ad, which began airing on Friday and is set to run through Tuesday, twice featured photos of Lizer, who was Nez’s Republican vice president during his time as president of the Navajo Nation.
“Eli Crane and his billionaire backers are so scared of an Indigenous sheepherder from Shonto, Arizona, they rushed a $700k ad against me. But they care so little about the voters of AZ-02 they couldn’t get it right,” Nez told The Washington Sun in a statement. “The voters of AZ-02 are tired of their broken promises and disregard for the real challenges they are facing. I guess they don’t care to know my face, but on November 3rd they’ll hear my voice.”

The No Going Back PAC is planning to spend more than $650,000 on the advertisement, according to AdImpact.
“The ad was corrected shortly after it aired,” a spokesperson for the super PAC told The Sun in a statement.
AdImpact now shows an updated version of the advertisement with the correct photos showing Nez.
The ad goes after Nez on affordability and accusations of fraud.
Lizer did not respond to a request for comment.
