Don Bolduc, the 2022 Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in New Hampshire, is endorsing a Democratic candidate for Senate this year.
Bolduc was among a group of New Hampshire Republicans and independents who threw their support behind Democrat Chris Pappas, according to a statement from his campaign. Pappas is facing Republican nominee John Sununu, a former senator and the younger brother of former Gov. Chris Sununu.
Bolduc, who received President Donald Trump’s endorsement in his 2022 race against Sen. Maggie Hassan, cited Pappas’ record of bipartisanship and support for veterans in his endorsement.
“His ability to navigate the complex landscape of our economy, tackle the national debt with a steady hand, and work towards solutions that bridge divides is especially critical in today’s challenging political climate,” Bolduc said in the statement.

The Cook Political Report rated the New Hampshire race as leaning Democrat, making the seat one of a handful of key races to watch in November as the parties fight for a slim majority in the Senate.
Former Gov. Sununu declined to endorse Bolduc in the 2022 Republican primary and said he was not “serious” enough to beat Hassan. He endorsed Bolduc’s opponent in the primary, Chuck Morse.
Bolduc fired back at the time by calling Gov. Sununu a “communist Chinese sympathizer” who “supports terrorism,” but walked back some of those claims after the primary, which he won. He went on to lose to Hassan in the general election.
Bolduc’s endorsement of Pappas does not reference either Sununu.
Along with Bolduc, Pappas announced endorsements from other Republicans, including former state Sen. Rick Russman, who has backed Democratic candidates in the past, and Sarah Stewart, who was appointed by Gov. Sununu to a state commissioner position in 2018.
