The Washington Sun is launching “The Stakeout,” a newsletter you’ll need and want to read about what’s really going on in the halls of Congress. Led by Sun congressional reporters Igor Bobic and Oriana González, The Stakeout will deliver scoops, behind-the scenes details on the news of the day and impactful reporting on the lives of those who spend their days in the U.S. Capitol. The Stakeout will feature extensive reporting from The Sun’s Hill team: Kadia Goba, Reese Gorman, Avani Kalra, Paul Kane, Stephen Neukam and Al Weaver.

Bobic and González have spent years covering the Capitol and the people who work there — from lawmakers to the thousands of people who make the place run.

“The world’s greatest deliberative body? Well, it depends on the day,” said Bobic. “But we’re excited to cover and obsess over this complex cast of characters of the Capitol in a fun and informative way.”

“Before you say, ‘Oh no, not another newsletter,’ let me tell you that you’re going to want to read this one,” said González. “Come for the scoops, stay because you’re reading something you actually enjoy.”

About The Washington Sun

We launched in 2024 as NOTUS, a news site focused on national politics and policy. But as we watched others pull back on Washington coverage, we knew our hometown deserved better. So we invested, more than doubling the size of our newsroom in just six months.

Our work puts Washington front and center, and we wanted our name to do the same. So NOTUS — short for News of the United States — is now The Washington Sun.

We cover politics and policy and the people who shape life in Washington — not just at the White House and in Congress, but at the Wilson Building, at Northwest Stadium and in the neighborhoods where we live.

We report for the people who live here, the people who make policy here and the people around the world who care deeply about what happens here. We do it with original reporting, with deep sourcing and with an unwavering commitment to accuracy.
