About Us

Support NOTUS and the Allbritton Journalism Institute

The NOTUS Newsroom (from 2023-2025).

Tracey Salazar

Thank you for considering a donation to the Allbritton Journalism Institute, a nonpartisan nonprofit creating opportunities for the great political journalists of the future as they do essential work today.

Our fellows come from all across the country — from small towns, from religious colleges, from the military, from families who are far removed from the Beltway bubble.

We teach them to report accurately, fairly and in a proudly nonpartisan way. We support them with a full-time salary and benefits. We encourage them to bring their life experiences and perspectives to their work — but not their biases.

The result: Our reporters find and tell stories that others don’t, working alongside veteran reporters and editors at our “teaching hospital” newsroom, NOTUS.

We reach millions of people each month through our website, daily newsletter, frequent citation and republication in local and national media, as well as reporters’ regular appearances on CNN, MSNBC, PBS, NewsNation, SiriusXM radio and podcasts from Apple and The Ringer.

FAQ

What is your donor transparency policy?

The Allbritton Journalism Institute and NOTUS are committed to transparency about our organization’s funding.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we accept gifts, grants and sponsorships from individuals, organizations and foundations to help with our general operations, coverage of specific topics and special projects.

Our news judgments are made independently — not based on or influenced by donors or any revenue source. We do not give supporters the rights to assign, review or edit content.

We will make public all revenue sources and donors who give $5,000 or more per year. As a nonpartisan news nonprofit, we avoid accepting charitable donations from government entities, political parties, elected officials or candidates seeking public office.

We will not accept donations from sources who, deemed by our board of directors, present a conflict of interest with our work or compromise our independence.

Is this donation tax-deductible?

Yes. The Allbritton Journalism Institute is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, and as such, donations to our organization qualify for a tax deduction, as permitted by law. To learn more about what that means for you, we recommend checking with your tax adviser, accountant or the IRS.

If you plan to claim this donation on your U.S. taxes, please keep your email donation receipt as your official record, which we will send following a donation of any size.

What is your Employer Identification Number (EIN)?

92-3567967

Will you sell or share my personal information outside of your organization?

No, never. We have the utmost respect for our donors and will always protect your privacy.

What if I’d like to explore giving in another way, such as by mailing a check or through my Donor-Advised Fund?

We’re happy to help. If you’d like to discuss sending a check or explore giving through your DAF, making a gift of stock or supporting us in another way, please reach out to Kevin Grant, director of development at AJI, at kevingrant@aji.org.
